SPECIALIZED TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Brandon began his career working with children and family services, and while in that role participated in specialized trainings in family systems and effective use of multidisciplinary treatment teams. Brandon went on to provide psychotherapy services in a correctional environment and while in this position Brandon’s roles included working directly with law enforcement, providing individual and group psychotherapy services, conducting risk assessments, and participating on specialty teams. While in this position Brandon gained specialized training in assessment and treatment of complex trauma, risk assessment, hostage negotiations, crisis intervention, and Critical Incident Stress Management. During this time Brandon served as the leader of the North Idaho Critical Incident Stress Management Team. Following his work in corrections Brandon began working at a hospital affiliated outpatient mental health clinic providing individual psychotherapy services. In this role Brandon participated in further specialized training in the assessment and treatment of trauma disorders, family systems work in psychotherapy, and working with couples. After two years of this work Brandon moved into the role of Clinical Supervisor at the same clinic and in this role worked closely with up to seven other therapists supervising the delivery of treatment services, while continuing to see patients individually. During this time Brandon also served on the hospital’s Crisis Intervention Team providing crisis mental health services to patients seen in an emergency setting, and briefly served as the Clinical Supervisor for this team as well. This role provided experiences of working with individuals in an emergency setting to rapidly assess and de-escalate crisis situations, as well as working closely with all levels of emergency medical professionals. Early in 2019 Brandon began the process of transitioning into a private practice with the goal of being able to provide the highest standard of care to patients in an easy to navigate and streamlined setting. Since entering private practice Brandon has continued to participate in specialized trainings on the progressing research of the impact of trauma on the brain and continued applications of clinical interventions for trauma disorders. Brandon has also served as a mental health consultant for fire departments and an ambulance company, as well as has provided lectures and trainings on prevention of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder for first responders, compassion fatigue, and prevention of burnout.
